Cleaner/General Operative

Part-Time 3 days per week

We are currently recruiting for a cleaner/general operative to be responsible for maintaining high levels of cleaning standards across Meadow Croft Garden Centre and Meadow Croft Kitchen. Ensuring customer areas and facilities, including the restaurant and all retail areas are maintained to the highest level. This vacancy is for a permanent, 3 day per week position, which will include weekend working on a rota basis. Hours of work 8.00am – 2.00pm (with some flexibility needed).

Main Responsibilities:

• Performing a range of cleaning tasks such as hoovering, dusting and mopping including furniture, floors and windows.

• Servicing and cleaning toilet areas including toilets, sinks, floors and replenishing customer supplies including toilet rolls and soap.

• Maintaining stocks of cleaning materials and ensuring the cleaning cupboard is kept tidy and well stocked at all times.

• Clearing and removing refuse from customer and staff areas.

• Updating management on any issues or repairs that need to be fixed i.e. broken equipment.

• Supporting with occasional general maintenance tasks across all sites.

• Maintenance and upkeep of all outside areas ensuring they are presentable at all times.

• Following all health and safety regulations, ensuring all cleaning products are accounted for and stored safely away at the end of each shift.

General Duties:

• Ensure that health and safety regulations are observed at all times.

• Promote the image of W. D. Smith & Son and encourage team working across the business.

• Ensure professionalism and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

• Attend relevant training and take responsibility for own development.

We are so proud of the South Woodham Community Garden who were presented with a certificate of OUTSTANDING achievement by Margaret of Anglia in Bloom last week. The garden is by the entrance of Meadow Croft, if you would like to get involved, please ask in store.

The first of our beautiful homemade wreaths have just arrived in store. Our team on the nursery are very busy right now making these under direct supervision from Honey and Elvis (the cats).
We're very proud of our wreaths the team make the best quality about.

Our late night Christmas shopping events kick off on Wednesday 20th November. We will be open until 9pm every Wednesday and Thursday until 12th December. The evenings are lovely and festive, with lots of exclusive offers in store and the chance to sample lots of Christmas goodies. We will have Rayleigh Brass Band there to serenade you all with Christmas tunes and our restaurant will be serving a delicious selection of festive specials. The whole store will be open so you can browse at your leisure and of course our German Market and the food huts will be in full swing.
